Recipe Preparation
  • 1 whole octopus (2.5 lbs)
  • 2 tbsp chili sauce
  • 1 head garlic
  • 1/2 onion
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup cheese (shredded)
  • 5 taco shells
  • 2 avocados
  • 2 tbsp sour cream
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 1/2 cup toasted breadcrumbs
  • Fresh cilantro, to taste
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
Step Description
1
In a blender, combine the chili sauce, garlic, onion, butter, mayonnaise, salt, and black pepper. Blend until smooth to make the marinade.
2
Clean the octopus thoroughly and pat it dry with paper towels. Rub it with the marinade and let it marinate for about 2 hours.
3
Transfer the marinated octopus to the grill and cook until fully done (use a ThermoPro TP980 Wi-Fi Wireless TempSpike Pro 4-Probe Meat Thermometer to monitor — around 145°F / 63°C for seafood).
4
To make the avocado sauce: cut the avocados into small pieces and mash them. Mix in the sour cream, honey, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
5
Toast the taco shells and sprinkle with cheese. Grill until the cheese melts, then assemble with grilled octopus, avocado sauce, breadcrumbs, and fresh cilantro.
