Whole n' Hearty Beef Sandwich
Recipe Preparation
  • 1/2 white onion
  • 1 baguette
  • slices of bacon
  • 5 button mushrooms
  • 2 lbs beef steak
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp sour cream
  • 1 pasteurized egg yolk
  • 1/2 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Prepare the Steak: Season the steak with olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Sear the steak until both sides are brown.

Cook to Temperature: Use the ThermoPro TempSpike Plus Truly Wireless 600-ft Meat Thermometer: Insert the probe into the steak, set the target to 125℉, and put it in a preheated oven at 350℉. The app will alarm you when it is ready.

Prepare the Bacon and Vegetables: Heat the skillet and cook the bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon, leaving the fat in the pan. Add the onions and mushrooms to the skillet and sauté until softened.

Toast the Bread and Make the Cream Sauce: Use the skillet to toast the bread until golden brown. After removing the bread, add 1/2 tbsp of flour to the skillet and stir until lightly cooked. Pour in the heavy cream, season with salt and pepper, and stir. Add the sautéed onions and mushrooms, cooking until the mixture thickens into a creamy sauce.

Make the Bacon Sour Cream Sauce: In a bowl, combine sour cream, pasteurized egg yolk, crumbled bacon, and vinegar. Mix well to create a tangy bacon sauce.

Combine Them: Spread a layer of the bacon sour cream sauce on one side of the bread. Add a layer of sliced steak, followed by the creamy onion and mushroom sauce. Garnish with chopped scallions, then top with another slice of bread. Enjoy!
