Unit works as advertised. Verified RH at 100% and tracks other hygrometers I have within 2-5% which is reasonable (depending on your application). I would certainly buy this again.

I bought this because I did not trust the humidity sensor on my humidifier. I want my household humidity in the 35-45% range but with the humidifier set @ 40% our gut feel was that the humidity was too low. The ThermoPro TP53 showed our humidity @ ~20% making our home uncomfortable in the winter. I changed the setting on the humidifier to 60% and we now see ~40% on the ThermoPro TP53.
Of course, like a person with more than one watch, you always wonder which one is showing the correct time (usually neither :-)) ), we weren’t sure what the actual humidity was. I later bought a wireless weather station that gives both indoor and outdoor humidity and temperature, I found that there was less than 2% difference between the weather station and the ThermoPro TP53. Good enough for me especially since they’re in different rooms.
Finally and not to be undervalued, the LCD display on the ThermoPro TP53 is spectacularly clear and readable.
The only thing missing is a clock but I took care of that with another gadget. 🙂

First I checked this ThermoPro in the freezer, it was accurate to within 1 deg compared to my other digital thermometer. Encouraged by that good result I decided to check outside, the temp was 88 deg according to the online Weather Underground. As you can see from the accompanying pic they matched wonderfully. Incidentally the humidity according to the WU read 16%, and on the Thermopro you can see it reads 19%. So the humidity was less than stellar, but still pretty good for my purposes. I have to give this five stars considering the price. Good job ThermoPro!

Great price so I had to try it. I needed a thrmo in the garage since I work there on things that are temperature sensitive.
Check it against 2 high-end units I have and it is right on the money. And, you can see it easily from a distance. I did not think the high/lo temp record would be useful but I was wrong, I refer to it a lot now.

I was camping this past week in the rocky mountains and thought that I really wanted to write a review about this product I have owned the thermopro hydrometer for about 2.5 years now to use in my RV. I stuck it to the wall by the bed so I can see the temperature and humidity at night/morning. It has seen temps down to -8 and highs up to 89. It is one of the most reliable items in my RV currently that takes batteries. I have never changed the batteries in it but yet it still works no matter the temperature. I don’t trust he humidity reading on it at all though. It swings all over the place in a matter of minutes and I have no idea why or how it pulls its reading. The light on I is awesome too for reading it when there isn’t any light.

I have a couple of older models that I keep in various rooms as well as my garage (don’t ask why, it wouldn’t be very interesting to read). The older models are magnet or stand only. Since I removed the set of metal shelves I had in my garage, and no shelves are going in to replace them, I needed a model I could hang on the wall. This model has that ability so I bought it. I let it sit on a counter with 2 others of the older model, and they all read within 1* total spread – which is fine for my purposes.
I do not need a thermometer / RH indicator that is super accurate, just one that is in the ballpark with its brethren so I’m not willing to spend much money. This model does exactly what I need, for the right price. It is a bonus that I can turn on the back light if for some reason I couldn’t turn on the garage light.

Last year, I submitted a 5-star review of a similar unit — the ThermoPro TP52. I evaluated the TP52 by placing it next to a La Crosse Hygrometer/Thermometer that I used as a reference. The TP52 was remarkably consistent with the reference. Recently, I performed the same test with the TP53, using the same reference. For several days, the TP53 displayed humidity levels that were roughly 10 percent below the reference value (a difference of around 5 percent in humidity). I then moved the TP53 to the kitchen, attaching it to the refrigerator door. Over several hours, the displayed humidity increased, to a level that approximated what was displayed on the La Crosse unit (still in the next room). I subsequently moved the TP53 back to its original location next to the La Crosse unit. Over several days, the displayed readings have been fairly consistent, but seem to become less so at humidity levels above 48 percent. I think the original issue might have been due (at least in part) to the product slowly recovering from environmental extremes during storage, packaging or shipping. If you’ve purchased one of these, I recommend allowing a week or two for the unit to adjust to its environment. If the accuracy of my unit improves or degrades further, I’ll update the review.

Can’t really say how accurate it is, but I didn’t need it to be that accurate anyway. Just wanted some idea of the temperature and humidity for my plants. Very easy to read and love the ranges of temperatures and humidity it gives. That it lights up is a bonus . Just stuck it on my fridge since it has a magnet on the back. Went to make one little complaint about not having a stand on the back, and I realized it did all this time. The little part thats the front of the battery compartment pulls out from the bottom. Wouldn’t change a thing

Very accurate thermonater..
As you can see my inside one says (it has an outdoor sensor) says 81° with 91% humidity and the Thermapro says 81° 89% humidity..
its 2am here btw, Welcome to Florida Summer. Been here over 35 years, and I can tell you this.. The summers have gotten far hotter and the winter’s are nearly nonexistent… Our planet is definitely changing, idgaf what any of those politicians say.. whether its human error or just a naturally occurring shift, Its Happening… I have left Florida a few times for a couple years at a time but always end up back in my home town of Cocoa beach..
Ohh and yes.. Thermapro makes a fine product and would definitely recommend them

I haven’t calibrated the hygrometer measurements from this device, but they subjectively seem accurate and are at least way closer to reality than the few old (like 60+ yr. old) mechanical ones laying about. Temp. seems spot on too. The display is easy to read, but the labeling on the tiny buttons on the back (which only get used when moving the device for extended use in a different location) have equally tiny labeling. By tiny I mean on par with other contemporary electronics with reset buttons, … While it would be nice to have a similar device that didn’t require batteries my experience with such is that they don’t age well. And yes, one could make a similar device with a couple of sensors, an Arduino, … but it would cost more in parts and time (likely lacking the “24 hr.” and “since reset” averaging features not to mention the cute little trending direction arrows for temp. and humidity.) Not to mention a 3D printed case wouldn’t go over as well esthetically with the rest of this household. So yeah, I’d buy one of these again in ten years if I left the batteries in long enough to corrode the contacts beyond use.

Building a humidor for a friend out of a high end fridge for wines (the compressors was broken), I decided to install this unit (the remote version would have been a better choice really) and test the open distilled water bath method of humidifying the fridge-a-dor. This unit helps with understanding the particular shelf level humidity of the unit’s performance. The better choice would have been to get a dual or quad sensor/remote combination and installed those sensors throughout the fridge-a-dor and been able to determine if circulation was needed (it is as I find out moving the sensor around on my own). Bottom line, great for general homogonized humidity sensor, but if in enclosed container you must then open and lose humidity to find out what the sensor says (and do it quickly).

I needed a thermometer for my nursery to check one that I believed was no longer working right. The first one the seller sent me was a lemon. I didn’t contact them, frankly I don’t have time to worry about this kind of thing as a working mom with a toddler but they contacted me and when I told them the thermometer was not accurate, they sent me a new one. I am very impressed with the seller’s customer service. The new item seems to be accurate and I love that it shows me the humidity in the nursery, it turns out I don’t need the humidifier working every night in there! I also like that you can touch the item and a light comes up but its not permanent so doesn’t disturb the baby. Overall, very pleased.

I purchased both the TP 50 and the TP 53. They appear to be accurate, sometimes within one percentage or one degree, but if you wait long enough they both balance out. Exact accuracy is not important in a home situation, it’s not like I’m in a scientific lab. I do wish they would have a heat index reading as well… I have to constantly go to the chart I downloaded off the Internet to see just what the temperature “really” is when my cat and I are melting. But at least now I have some vague idea of how hot it really is in My unair-conditioned house, even though when I step outside it seems cooler, it actually is cooler in my house according to these thermometers. (The difference is due to air movement, there’s none in the house compared to outdoors)
The light is nice for night time when I want to know why I’m still sweating even with the fans on me.

This little gem came delivered in perfect working condition. Compared the temperature reading with an infrared thermometer and the result was literally +-0.1°F. Purchased mainly for the humidity feature and compared to a cheap clock with hygrometer, results were way off. Considering it’s ultra dry in my hood atm, I’ll safely assume that the clock is full of it and this device represents humidity more accurately. The magnetic backer is super strong and also has a tiny pull out stand that’ll sit on a true flat surface. Very responsive center-bottom touch button for backlight illumination. Glad I bought it and will update if it malfunctions this summer in a 95°F+ garage.

Pros:
The ThermoPro is exactly what I needed. I’ts small yet has large numbers that are easy to see at a distance.
It is very accurate and responds quickly to changes in temp and humidity.
The light that I didnt think I would use is so bright I can tap it on when I come into the dark room as a quick night light.
The wide magnet on the back is very strong and ideal to hang the unit on a metal surface like file cabinet or refrigerator.
The record 24hr / alltime memory for highs and lows is handy mostly if you want to set it for 24hr and see what the high and low temps and humidity for the were.
The contoured cover makes the unit more appealing than those square box units.
The screw hole / flip base / magnet options are ideal for quickly moving from one location to another until you get around to buying a 2nd unit.
Cons:
Standing on the base makes the light button (at the bottom) hard to turn on without pushing the unit across the table top unless the back is up against something solid.
The magnet on the back is large and juts out an 8th of an inch or so that when you mount the unit to a wall with a screw the unit does not sit flat to the wall and if you loosen the wall screw to make the unit flat it tends to swing when you reach for the light button.
Removing the magnet gives access to the battery compartment and allows the unit to lay flush against the wall surface except when you push on the unit it presses the option buttons on the back so the unit changes from C to F.
I found that by putting a small rubber washer (the thickness of the magnet cover) over the screw let me put the unit tight and level to the wall without having the buttons being pressed and makes for ideal mounting.
Unlike most vendors, iTronics sent me a follow-up email asking if I found my purchase satisfactory. Which I did, so I don’t mind taking a few minutes to add a review of the unit.
Being that it is such a simple thing I was amused at how pleased I was with my purchase and I recommend this unit first to anyone who needs one.

This gadget has become as important as the wall clock in our house. As I enter my home after a days work I check to see what’s the temperature inside. Sometimes I check the temperature first before even checking what time I got home.
This instrument has also helped me control my electricity bill somewhat. I had developed this habit of turning on the AC in my house the minute I walk in just because it “feels” hot. But the truth is that anywhere between 23°C – 27°C is comfortable air (for me anyway), so now unless the temperature is above that then I will turn on the AC. There are nights when the temperature is below 27°C and we don’t need to turn on the AC to sleep well, but if we didn’t have the Thermpro, I’m sure I would be turning it on faithfully just “because.” Of course, if the temperature is below 27°C but the humidity is really high (upwards of 70%), then I’d still turn on the AC a while just to reduce the moisture suspended in the air then the room has that cool, clean crispy feel. It’s funny how we feel certain that our minds together with our skin make the perfect thermometer; but they are just way out of calibration lol.
The product description for this item is very accurate so no need to repeat it. I’m very pleased with the quality of this product. Very well made.

If you are looking for a compact indoor temperature and humidity display, look no further. It smartly comes with batteries, which when inserted, the unit immediately works with NO additional setup. The display is easily readable and the readings appear accurate.

JF’s Prime Time –
I ordered two of these- one for my living room and one for my bedroom. The air gets VERY dry in the winter time and I have several allergies (and also have asthma). I also have a parrot and for all these reasons, air quality is very important. I was constantly finding the room of my throat getting very dry and having a hard time to swallow and yet the air didn’t feel dry. If the air gets too dry, I start getting bloody noses.
For these reasons, I wanted a humidity monitor. I looked in stores and online and I found this one and it had good ratings. I find it to be VERY accurate. I need to keep the humidity level above 40% in my house and whenever I start having my symptoms, I look at the monitor and its usually in the mid 30s. It doesn’t take long for it turn to dry (again) after a few hours, so the accuracy of this monitor is key and has provided me a great means of preventing excessive dryness.
I like that it tells you the temp as well as the ‘high/low’ of both temp and humidity for the either the last 24hrs OR all time. I am rating the ‘battery life’ as 3-stars since that is ‘average’ and I haven’t had them long enough to make a fair assessment on battery life.

The digits are large and very clear, and it is easy to turn on the light when needed. It has an unobtrusive stand that stays engaged. Nice to have the magnet option, which I don’t need. The high/low numbers are smaller, so they don’t distract from the current figures but are there if needed. A very nifty little thing.

The Good: Powered up nicely (after inserting batteries) right out of the box. Clear display with strong back light. I needed a quick glance display to monitor temperature in a NCC ( for a year my log entries just stated NCC temp as cool). Now I have a standalone temperature monitor I can glance at each day as I do my system checks.
The Bad: 1 minute after powering up display faded. LCD did not display all fields (number lines) and had ghost images. Let sit for 20 minutes with no changes. Back light continued to be bright so I didn’t suspect the batteries. Before writing a 1 star review I went out and bought a pack of AAA’s to verify.
Overall: After replacing the cheap batteries (who knows how long they were sitting in that box) the display came back clear and bold. Consider the cheap batteries a quick validation test to ensure the unit works then replace with more reliable batteries.

I picked this up as an impulse buy and am astonished at how useful it has become. You do not get instant readings but instead it takes a few minutes to equalize to the local temp and humidity. The magnet mounting option has been particularly useful to get readings in some otherwise inconvenient locations. I’ll admit it might not have the accuracy or responsiveness of a professional unit but that’s not the intent. As it is it’s very good value for the price.

I used this in the desert this year to track current, 24 hour high and low temperatures, and humidity. It worked exactly as expected. despite the fact that it was stuck via the handy built-in magnetic mount to a shipping container. One does need to keep it out of the sun to get accurate readings, of course. Useful, works as advertised, and inexpensive – hits the trifecta, so it gets five stars. Would buy again.
I ordered two more to use in our new place in the Pacific Northwest. Solid reliable units.

I’d like to give this five stars, but it has a flawed light. After I inserted the batteries, the light worked fine due about an hour (turning on at a soft touch), then it started blinking rapidly, and now refuses to turn on at all. Thought I’d left that problem behind with my divorce, lol. Seriously, no matter what I do, it refuses to turn on. Otherwise, I love the size and accuracy of this nifty little thing, and was planning on buying two more…but if this is typical, I guess I’ll find a different model.

My fault that I searched for indoor/ outdoor thermometer and this showed up and I bought it by mistake. That is on me. The one star is for a NO RETURNS policy for any reason? I changed my review because after complaining of no returns the vendor gave me a full refund and told me to just keep the item.

Our central air conked out during one of the hottest summers we’ve ever had. Not sure why I needed confirmation that it was hot in the house when my body was well aware of that fact. However, this unit helped me coordinate with the local temperature on when to open or close windows and doors. Local channel predicts another heat wave, so I am very happy I bought this product!

I was mostly interested in this for humidity control in my studio basement apartment. I used to go by how muggy it would feel when I got home from work & would turn the dehumidifier on, but then I’d get dry nose/mouth from leaving it on all night. Though, I have nothing to compare for accuracy, I have trained myself to check my ThermoPro a few hours after turning the dehumidifier on – if it’s close to 40%, I turn it off & have a great night’s sleep.
The unit is as wide as an iPhone 5, but shorter. I like that it has a magnet, cause I keep it on the fridge. The backlight button just needs a slight finger swipe, which I learned the hard way, cause I kept trying to push it like a TV remote & it’d fall off my fridge. Overall, it’s been very helpful for my needs.

What did I learn? Several things. A. You can’t trust your thermostat relative humidity reading. By using the TP 35 Hygrometer I found the thermostat RH reading was 6 points high. Geeze, that’s a lot but knowledge is power and I made adjustments based on the TP35 accuracy. B. Vacation homes in the NC mountains are very humid. I set up a web cam, watched the TP35 readings and realized the humidity was much higher than expected. I’ve now installed a dehumidifier and sleep better knowing there is no mold surprise waiting for me. For a very small investment in the TP35 and have probably avoided mildew/mold remediation costs. I’ve hung several of the units on walls at my permanent and vacation homes. This is now my go to device to monitor conditions. Thank you

Very easy set-up … insert batteries and its working. Allow it time to adjust itself to the current temperature and humidity. Well worth the price. My only question is this…how do I know it is accurate? I have another temperature/humidity gauge and they are quite different in their readings. Having said that the other gauge is an inexpensive thermometer/hygrometer and it is the reason I purchased this ThermoPro hoping that it would be more accurate.

Positives: I ordered two of these ThermPro TP53. They look great, are the perfect size for what I wanted, and the numbers are easy to read. They can be hung on a wall or set on a tabletop with the built in kickstand, or even attached to the fridge with the built in magnet on the back.
Negatives: One of the two I received constantly reads the temperature in the room 1-2 degrees hotter than the actual temperature in the room. We tested them side by side in several different locations and the same one always reads hotter than the actual temperature. The other one tested “on the money” every time so there is definitely a problem with the accuracy of one of the two I bought. Ordinarily I’d return the one that isn’t working properly, I mean, a thermometer that isn’t accurate isn’t worth anything to me, but this time I decided to keep it and use it on my screened in porch. I’d rather it be accurate so I could have used it as I intended in the house but one to two degrees “off” on the screened porch isn’t the end of the world.
