Father's Day Grilling Ideas

Grilling Pork Ribs

Many people like pork ribs that are grilled to perfection and by using a food thermometer, you can ensure that your ribs are never underdone. It’s always better to cook ribs slowly, to intensify the flavor.

There are three popular cuts of ribs. These are:

  1. Baby Back,
  2. Louis and
  3. Spare

All of them require almost the same type of preparation. The cooking time for these is slightly different. For example, spare ribs take longer to cook than baby back ribs because spare ribs are considerably wider.

Grilling Pork Ribs

You will need a food thermometer. A grill, and a meat fork are a few tools you will need.  Your grilling utensils should be long enough to prevent you from getting burned. You can prepare a marinade using garlic, soya sauce, brown sugar and other ingredients.

Always use a knife to pry at the silverskin so you can tug it off completely before you season your ribs. This membrane is usually located on the underside of your ribs but sometimes the butcher will remove it for you. Rinse your ribs, place them in a baking dish and pour the marinade over them. Allow your ribs to soak in the marinade overnight in your refrigerator.

In the morning:

  1. Remove the ribs from the marinade.
  2. Save the marinade because you’ll use it for basting while grilling.
  3. Pat the ribs dry and rub them with a blend of sugar, salt, garlic and other spices that you like.
  4. Slowly cook your ribs on indirect flames.
  5. Use the food thermometer to ensure the meat has reached 195℉-203℉
  6. When the ribs are cooked, if you pierce the meat using a fork, the tines should glide through easily.

Grilling Shrimp: Quick & Easy

Grilled shrimp is one of the best dishes to prepare if you’ve got a hungry family and they don’t want to wait for dishes that take longer, such as grilled ribs. in fact, you could have grilled shrimp ready in less than twenty minutes. You’ll never want your shrimp to go on the grill frozen, so always need to thaw it first.

You can make a marinade for your shrimp. This works really well for some grilled shrimp recipes, such as garlic grilled shrimp. However, it’s not always necessary to prepare marinade for shrimp. They’ll taste great grilled with just a few of your favorite spices.

You can use a food thermometer to check that the correct cooking temperature of 120 degrees Fahrenheit has been reached.

Grilling Vegetables

Vegetarian grilling options are healthy and delicious. You can grill everything from zucchini to carrots and season your vegetables with your preferred herbs or dry rubs. You can get really creative when you’re preparing for a barbecue that caters to vegans or vegetarians.

It’s important to remember that many vegetarians would prefer not to have any remnants of meat touch their food. Clean your grill properly before preparing vegetables, if you’ve just used it to grill meat. You could also designate a specific section of your grill for vegetables, so that your corn and other delicious alternatives remain free of meat

You could grill pineapple rings sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Grilled corn on the cob is always appreciated at a barbecue but make sure that you prepare enough for everyone, not just the vegetarians. If you are grilling asparagus, soak it for half an hour before you place it on the grill. Onions can be wrapped in foil and grilled, to produce a tender, sweet, and lightly charred treat.

A hearty barbecue meal can bring a smile on anyone’s face but a perfectly temped meat barbecue party can make dad an extremely happy person! How do you usually celebrate Father’s Day?
