The Big Bounty Oversized Hamburger
Recipe Preparation
  • 2 1/3 lb beef balls smashed down to a half inch thick (per burger)
  • American cheese, shredded
  • Salt & pepper
  • Extra-large hamburger buns
  • Mayonnaise
  • Pickled jalapenos
  • Pickled jalapeno juice
  • Mayonnaise
Step Description
1
Preheat your oven to 250°F (121°C).
2
Next, form two large patties for each hamburger. Sprinkle some shredded cheese between them, then seal together and season with salt and pepper. For best results, place inside fridge to chill before seasoning and cooking.
3
Insert the probe of a ThermoPro TempSpike Plus Truly Wireless 600-ft Meat Thermometer into the patty. By measuring the internal temperature of the ingredient, this device will tell you when the hamburger is properly cooked all the way through.
4
Cook the burger in the oven for around 20 minutes. Once the burger has reached a level close to your preferred level of doneness, finish it by searing it over direct heat in a pan or grill. Only sear for a few seconds for each side in order to prevent damaging the burger. Once the hamburger has reached an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C), it is finished. Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes.
5
Mix the mayonnaise with the pickled jalapeno juice, then spread on top of the hamburger bun. Top the bun with sliced jalapenos, and add the patty. As this oversized burger can be a mouthful, we recommend cutting it in half to make it more manageable. Enjoy!
