Recipe Preparation
- ½ lb bacon
- 6–7 jalapenos(or other mild peppers)
- 1 cup cream cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tsp masala seasoning
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1½ cups wheat crumbs (or crushed wheat crackers)
- 3 cups vegetable oil
Step Description
1
Prepare the Filling: Cook the bacon in a skillet until crispy, then chop it into small pieces. In a mixing bowl, combine the bacon bits, cream cheese, shredded cheddar, and masala seasoning. Mix thoroughly until well combined, then form the mixture into small balls.
2
Coat the Balls: Place flour, beaten eggs, and wheat crumbs into three separate bowls. Roll each cheese ball in the flour, then dip it in the egg mixture, and finally coat it with wheat crumbs.
3
Fry Until Golden: Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or fryer to approximately 320°F. Use a ThermoPro Lightning One-Second Instant-Read Meat Thermometer to make sure the temperature is correct. Carefully drop the coated balls into the hot oil and fry for about 5–10 minutes, or until they turn golden brown. Use a thermometer to ensure proper oil temperature and even frying.
4
Serve: Once done, remove the poppers from oil and place on paper towels to soak up extra oil. Serve and enjoy!
