  • 1 large pumpkin
  • 8 lb pork shoulder
  • 2 tbsp BBQ dry rub
  • 1 tsp pumpkin spice
  • 2 tbsp canola oil

HOW TO MAKE Pumpkin-Roasted Pulled Pork

  • STEP 1:
    Score the fat on the pork shoulder, then rub oil all over the pork. Season with pumpkin spice and BBQ rub on all sides.

  • STEP 2:
    Insert the Tempspike probe into the thickest part of the shoulder. Place it on the smoker at 250°F (121°C) for 5-6 hours until it reaches an internal temperature of 170°F (77°C).

  • STEP 3:
    Split the pumpkin in half lengthwise and remove the seeds. Place the pork shoulder inside the pumpkin and roast until it reaches an internal temp of 200°F (93°C).

  • STEP 4:
    Let the pork rest for 30 minutes, then pour in your favorite BBQ sauce and shred the pork.
