The product looked great and appeared to work as advertised right out the box. After repeated instances of smoked meat to coming out as expected I noticed this device is not properly calibrated. Furthermore it now does not ever indicate above 175 degrees F for internal temp. I am now wishing I spent a little more and got one that had a better reputation.
I guess in some instances it was my mistake because I looked at the pictures and I assume that you would get a basic temperature read out from the base unit which they called the booster. And then you would use the app if you wanted to have advanced features. But when I received it I realize that the base unit charges the thermometer and functions as the intermediate transmission between the thermometer and your phone where you’re running the app. You have to use the app there’s no other way to get a temperature read out on here. I don’t see why they couldn’t have given you the basic function on the base unit. You have to use that, it’s already there, it would save you a lot of trouble for the times when you just don’t wanna have to use your phone.I’m OK with app enabled things but I also want the option to not have to use the app and this does not give you that. To be fair they didn’t say that and I assumed it.The other problem is that the probe is extremely thick. I’ve never seen a thermometer that puts a hole this size into your meats that you’re cooking. It’s more than twice as thick in diameter as any other thermometer I’ve ever used. I don’t know why but I’m guessing it’s not necessary and it’s probably not good for the steak, or the chicken.
This was a great idea for a thermometer. I must admit it was somewhat of a fail for me. First, the thermometer probe is too thick to stay put in my opinion. Second, I feel they need to come up with a better system for this to work properly. A meat thermometer should not be this troublesome. It’s a pass for me.
Until it didn’t. They are replacing the unit so hopefully the next will be better
I’m not tech savvy I don’t know what’s going on, I got it working just like in the manual for the first time and it worked great. I haven’t been able to get it working again. I’ll try calling support and report back
