This Thermopro tempspike is the bomb!! it has one downside… the battery in the spike only last me 6hrs into an 8hr cooking of a brisket..no easy away to recharge the spike so if you need a wireless temp spike for cooking under 6hr this is the one you need or buy 2 so you can swap them out and cook longer.
I wish it allowed viewing the temperatures via Internet when I am out of range, like running to the store for something. It is great around the house to monitor and adjust the temperature in my propane smoker.
It worked well when it worked, but now the receiver will not connect to any Bluetooth device. I reached out via email to the manufacture and have said they will send me a new one. I can’t complain about good customer service, but hope this next one lasts longer.
I own a Meater+ which has been rife with issues. The probe won’t hold a charge and eats AAA batteries, connecting their probe is problematic every single time, and I was fed up with it enough that I bought a Thermopro wireless. Right out of the box, it’s not a pretty as the Meater, but I love that it has an internal rechargeable battery. The app setup is easy and seamless, connecting the probe is super easy and once paired, the probe connects without issue. The probe stays connected throughout the cook, which the meater never did. The only thing the Meater does that I can’t find yet on the thermopro is factor in resting times to the desired temps. That’s easily corrected by taking whatever you’re cooking off the heat source a few minutes early. Not a big deal. Overall, I like this device a lot and I can’t wait to use it more now that grilling season is coming!
I liked that it is accurate. Cooked my steak exactly like I prefer. A good tool to have.
