I’ve not used the other big name brand that this emulates and is often compared with but this works very well from what I’ve seen. Not sure how much improvement you’d see for 3x the price – maybe slightly faster response time and or build quality but this isn’t lacking in either. Performance of these tools in terms of accurate measurement depends a lot on knowing where to put it in your food – too deep, too shallow to close to the edge or bone is going to adversely impact readings. Another plus is it uses a standard AAA battery. Only minor knock is a screw driver (included) is required to access the battery compartment that is gasket sealed.

  2. Sebastian

This is the best thermometer ever. We had one that lasted a long time, and then it got lost. Bought some cheaper ones that all broke, and then finally just ordered this one again. The magnet is great, the fold down system is great, and it really is waterproof. Why people don’t make waterproof thermometers is beyond me, because you’re obviously gonna wash the probe, and even a little water ruins most of them. This one is just superior. Great for grilling, that’s what we use out for most, and it’s worth the money.

  3. mcsimmons123

Had a small problem and Customer service was very good at handling the problem. The TP19 reads very fast and the magnets make it easy to store on the refrigerator side. I like a company that stands behind their product.

  4. lhj313

I love how this thermometer has such huge, easy-to-read numbers. I can’t accidentally leave it switched on because there is no switch. Pull out the probe, and it’s on. Close the probe, it’s off. It is very fast—even faster than my previous “instant” read thermometer. The fact that it’s so long keeps my hand away from the intense heat of whatever food I’m testing.

  5. Hewy

While smoking some meat the other day, my husband said “this might be one of the best $15 (he bought it on a flash sale) I spent. I love this thing!” He uses it regularly and it works perfectly.

  6. Merlin330

My first ThermPro was the TP 18. Being left handed, I had to read the display upside down. When the TP 19 came out, I saw it had an auto-rotating display, so upgrading was a no brainer. The TP 19 is a great tool for any normal use kitchen. It produces a quick and accurate temperature readings, the red on black display is easy to read and it is attractive enough to use its built in magnets to store it in plain sight on any nearby metallic surface. I like this so much, I bought one for each of my adult children. The ThermPro comes with a 1 year warranty that expands to 3 years once it’s registered. That warranty came in handy after my better half broke it as only she can. ThermPro’s customer service was great and its no questions asked replacement policy was a relief from the usual rigamarole one gets from other companies in trying to obtain warranty service.Overall, I’m completely satisfied with the TP 19, and ThermPro’s customer service, both of which provides good value for the money spent.

  7. Jess

This is much larger than the one I have been using. I like the longer probe and the easy to read display. It shows the temp much faster than the old cheap one I have been using. This helped cook my 31 day dry aged steaks to perfection.

  8. PBW

Near instantaneous readout allows checking temp at different depths. I was pretty good at gauging doneness by touch, but this elevates my game. Very happy. Bought one for father-in-law too, so confident in my enthusiasm…

  9. swo

While it’s not “instant read” as I think they claimed, it is quicker than my older digital thermometer.I do like that it’s one piece and that the probe folds in to the handle for protection when you aren’t using it. I also like that it turns on automatically when you open the probe.I bought this particular digital thermometer due to YouTube videos I have watched on grilling and smoking, and paying attention to what those people were using.I haven’t checked accuracy yet, and will need to do that before I can comment. But overall, I am happy.

  10. Ron

Works Great. I have broken 3 before reaching out to customer service. They were great and replaced my last one.

  11. John Runkle

Got this as a gift from the wife. Loved it and would use it frequently until it finally broke at the base of the probe. That is my only knock against it.

  12. Paul O

My wife manages 4 kitchens and this probe is the best. But, like other reviews the probe ended up breaking on one. Customer service was great and replaced it no problem.

  13. lindylou

I love that this lights up so it’s easy to tell if the meat on your grill is done after dark. I also love that it has the temperature different types of meat should be (including rare, medium, and well on beef) listed on the opposite side of the handle. This ready reference is faster to look up than on my phone. I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

  14. 50,000 +views/reviews!

I purchased this Thermopro after returning a Amazon recommended digital Thermometer (has about 26,000 reviews) that was pure junk. The thermopro tp19, actually works as it should, it’s a bargain and when compared to my Thermoworks thermapen. It reads within half a degree, and cost a third of the price of a Thermapen. I’d call that a win! The bright red illuminated numbers are very easy to read. I have absolutely no complaints and fully recommend for a budget digital themometer. I’ve been storing mine in the orginal packaging, I need to see if Thermpro offers a case or silicone sleeve to protect ir.

  15. Bill peterson

Probe works great, it did end up breaking but Customer service was great and replaced no problem, great customer service

  16. Peter

Easy to use, bright display which automatically flips to be right-side-up no matter which way the probe is going. Waterproof so no stress about washing it after use. Seems to be precise and reads out the temp really fast. Definitely worth the couple dollars over the cheap(er) meat thermometers.

  17. Derek

I’ve used many temp probes in this price range and this one is by far the best buy for the money.

  18. Biboveralls

This Instant Read Thermometer is extremely fast at reading the temp and very user friendly !!! Highly highly recommend this to anyone !!!!

  19. tennmax

Have to be careful in opening and closing. My first one broke where it is connected to handle. Don’t really know how I did it, must have been opening and closing.

  20. Mark Dewitt

Replaced a unit that quit working. This is bright and easy to read and very fast. Hope it holds up for years to come. Auto shut off is great when open.

  21. Ted Farley (verified owner)

Had this product for over a year. Have used it often and found it to be very valuable in my cooking. Accurate and quick. Would recommend it.

  22. Tim Karraker

    Where is this product made?

    • CSTEAM (store manager)

      Hello,

Our products are designed and engineered in North America and manufactured in China.

  23. Bull

Bought one of these to “try it out”Ended up buying 2 more.I use these as a Grill Thermostat as well as on the job to check A/C systems on heavy equipment. They are what they say they are.Easy to use and very easy to read

  24. BMillet

Everything about this thermometer is quality. It is easy to use and accurate. Additionally, if the product is registered there is a 3 year warranty. I’ve owned mine for a couple of years and recently the probe broke where it attached to the body of the unit. I called ThermoPro to find out how to get a replacement and a live customer service rep actually answered. The very next day a replacement arrived! So not only is this a great product, but ThermoPro stands by their warranty. Highly recommended.

  25. Jordan H.

I dropped my old fold up instant read and it broke, so I went looking for a new one. Landed on this TP19 and it’s really been working good. Reads very fast and I like that it turns off automatically when you fold it up. Makes it easier to not drain the battery.

  26. Amazon Customer

For the BBQ hobbyist/home cook, this item is a must. I’ve seen several reviews comparing this product to other instant read thermometers that are way over-priced and shall remain unnamed. Let me tell you how stupid I found those videos. People complain that the probe is harder to move…I’m sorry, but if you aren’t strong enough to move the probe, then you are also not strong enough to lift the lid of your cooker. I can literally use this one handed and the probe being stiffer isn’t worth the extra $100 for the other brand. The other big complaint was that it takes 2-3 seconds to get a temperature reading and the other guy takes less that 1 second. Wow…2-3 seconds…maybe your dainty little hands can’t handle the heat for that long? Never mind the fact that you most likely put the other one’s probe in the meat and then look at it for 4-5 seconds before removing it. Usually, both models were within about 2 degrees Fahrenheit of each other. I honestly can’t speak to longevity of product because I’ve only had this one for a couple of months. But from my perspective, unless you just want to spend a crap ton more money, this instant read thermometer is excellent!!!

  27. maxwell smart

Big improvement over former ones used. Great that it is magnetic so keep on fridge and not mislay. Love that probe part folds in so easy to hold in hand (which also shuts it off). Temp shown very fast so can test different places very fast. Easy to read big screan. Very sturdy- well made. Love that if forget to bend probe in to close it auto shuts off, so not drain battery. Easy to grip even though small hands. Easy to clean probe part – although not supposed to be problem if top part gets wet, easy to wash just probe. I use it every day to make sure what I cook in convection oven/broiler/ toaster heated through to high enough temp so no chance undercooked. Great buy. Worth extra cost – actually feel “bargain” for quality. Seems like made with excellent quality control. Like how products used to be made.

  28. freebird0310

I bought this as a replacement for my Thermopro TP18 which broke where the probe connects to the plastic. IMO this is a much better thermometer. It feels sturdier than the TP18. Temperature read times are about the same. It is also magnetic so you can stick it to several things while grilling. One of my favorite things about this thermometer is that when you put it down the screen shuts off after a set amount of time. When you pick it up the thermometer is instant on. With the TP18 you had to turn it on and there was a second or two delay while it turned on. I began to hate the TP18 because I always had to add the extra step of turning it on. You don’t realize what a benefit the instant on is until you’ve got grilling gloves on and you’re trying to quickly get in and get temperatures of meat on the grill. Time will tell how long it lasts. The TP19 feels sturdier than the TP18 which only lasted me 2 years. Hopefully this one will last longer.

  29. Trying to do my best

It is perfect. Works fast. Easy to use. Temp LED is bright and large so you aren’t struggling to read it in bad lighting. Turns on just by flipping out the probe (so don’t have to worry about forgetting to hit an on button).I cannot recommend this more highly. Buy it. Worth the few extra $ vs some other cheap ones. I see no reason to buy the ones (like Thermapen) that are a lot more money.

  30. E

This is my second purchase. The first one lasted for years until the plastic broke when I opened it one day. I definitely got my money’s worth. It was kept on my refrig door and used often for cooking, baking, hot or cold drinks, etc. It’s easy to use, reads the temp quickly, cleans with a wipe, and it’s accurate. I tested it myself. And because it’s magnetic I don’t need to fumble in some drawer to get it. Thank you.

  31. Cat Lady

It even has magnets on the back so it will affix to your stove. I love mine so much that when I temporarily forgot that it was stuck to the side of my stove, I ordered a new one immediately! Fortunately a friend bought the 2nd one from me when I found the original. Great product.

  32. mucksiegooma

I just got this thermometer and it seems to work good. My only issue is that it is hard to real in the direct sunlight. The yellow numbers on a black background seem to be easier to read in the sun.

  33. Max55

Seems accurate and pretty rapid temperature reading. Love that the digital readout automatically flips so it’s right side up and that it uses a readily available AAA battery. You can select centigrade or Fahrenheit as default. Our older thermometer defaulted to centigrade which was a nuisance. Locking button for digital readout is nice also. Supposedly waterproof and we have run it under the faucet but not immersed it. Purchased 6 months ago and no problems so far. Haven’t had to change the battery yet.

  34. Jim G

We purchased this for our son in law as grilling season approaches. This brand is highly rated over and over, and we wanted something easy to read during the day or at night. This lights up. It had to last long, be of good quality and be accurate. Checked those boxes. There’s a handy magnet for hanging. We didn’t know about the BEST part! When you rotate this thermometer from right to left, the numbers flip! He is left handed and no longer has to strain to read the temp. He is so excited to get a humble thermometer.

  35. Kaitlyn Pagels

I have really enjoyed this thermometer, it is super easy to use and clean and has been right on par with my other thermometers. While I haven’t seen exact temps in the time they say it takes to read but it typically takes 5-10 seconds and the temp is exact and they might even be a stretch on time. Thermopro will be a brand that I use from here on out.

  36. Shop-O-Matic

This Thermometer is excellent – very fast. I’ve had others that took much longer to get a reading. This one gives you a reading in 5 to 10 seconds max usually. I like the strong magnet in it — I keep it on the side of my refrigerator instead of in a drawer, ready to use and easy to find. Nice big bright display too.

  37. 2BuckChuck

This is the umpteenth “instant” read thermometer that I have owned. None of which were “instant”. This one however is the fastest one I have used. Handy size, easy to read and seems to be accurate. Most importantly you do not need to go try to find some exotic battery to re-power it. It takes normal batteries!

  38. Amazon Customer

After purchasing 3-4 thermometers that all eventually broke – we came upon this gem. My wife was skeptical of the $25 price – but after a few weeks has said, “if there is a thermometer worth $25, this is it.” It is larger then most which seems to equate to sturdier so far. It has auto on and off, which is really nice – considering I use it nearly every day. I guess it is waterproof too, but haven’t had to confirm this yet, as the larger size keeps the handle out of the frother cup I use for making lattes. The one we have is super quick to in temperature reads. The only weird aspect to date is that once in a while while steaming milk, the temperature jumps around and the gauge flickers – not sure if this is because of all the wand touching booth the steamer tube and the milk, or what. In has always settled out for me to date, so no long term issue yet.

  39. Giants86

Great product at a reasonable price. Convenient in that you can hold in different positions and the temp is displayed. Like the idea that it is waterproof ( no I did not try it! ) but our previous digital thermometer ( different brand ) was not and that’s how we ruined it. Comfortable to grasp and check the steak/chicken. Gives an almost instant read of the temp of your food. Very similar to my daughter’s high-priced item at a fraction of the cost. Very please and would recommend.

  40. Homer Vela (store manager)

Got this last week. Looks and works great. I’m impressed with the quality. First thing I thought was this would make a great gift for friends who grill.

  41. Dee

It’s easy, fast and you know in a few seconds if your meat is done. Meat is too expensive to fool around with, so you really need this for accuracy. No more guesswork. After testing, Just wipe off the skewer, fold it up, stick it in the box and back in the kitchen drawer. It’s that easy, honest! I’ve used this on two (so far) rump roasts and they were perfect. Before, they were either under done or over cooked. Yuck! Nothing worse than an overcooked roast, as it makes your meat tough and dry. Just pull out your skewer from the box, place a battery in it, wipe off the skewer if it’s the first time and your good to go. Honestly, you need this!

Ever looked at something and thought, “I wonder what the temperature is inside of that thing”? Wonder no more, you can now stab it with this and find out. But what if you are upside down you might ask? Fear not my friend, the readout self-orients. Need to stab something to find it’s internal temp in the rain? Stab away, because it’s waterproof, and pretty fast so you can get back in where it’s dry.All in all, it’s a good tool for stabbing things to find out what the temperature is inside them.

  44. GeneB

I bought a highly recommended food thermometer they said cooks like to carry around in their pockets, but the buttons were too tiny and I couldn’t read the temperature while it was in the food. But this thing is amazing Big easy to read numbers in any light and I don’t have to find or push any buttons to use it. Cool how the numbers flip, although they distract me at times when I’m laying it down flipping and flipping back. Still and all it’s the most useful food thermometer I could ever want. I also like that it doesn’t take a special battery but the same as I keep in stock for my remote controls. I highly recommend it. It sometimes takes longer than claimed to get to a steady temp reading but I don’t under-cook my steaks anymore. I even enjoy how it shows the room temperature before I stick it in the food 🙂

I have had several thermometers to check the temperature of the meat I’m cooking. They have all been very slow to reach the temperature and also inconsistent when checking the temperature on the same piece of meat. I saw someone using this thermometer on a You tube video and was impressed with how fast it registered the temp. So I immediately ordered it. The numbers are large and bright so I don’t need reading glasses to see the temp. I get a reading in 2 or 3 seconds. I love that it has a magnet and I can hang it on the refrigerator so it’s easy to find. Christmas is coming — this would be a great gift.

  47. Amazon Customer

Phenomenal value for such a great thermometer. I’m a home-brewer and I cook a lot of meat so having an accurate thermometer is very important to me.After dropping my last thermometer in a mash, I needed a sturdy, accurate, and preferably waterproof replacement. I had considered buying other thermometers which were double or even triple the price of this one. I’m glad I went with this one. It’s extremely accurate, gives quick readings, is very sturdy. I’ve had it for 2 months and found out yesterday that it was magnetic. It’s sitting on the side of my fridge now. Love this thermometer.

Picked up the ThermoPro TP19 – came with a battery, but I decided to use a Duracell instead of the generic it came with. Build quality seems solid, and it truly does appear to be water proof enough to wash it completely in water (though I only really washed the probe). Big easy to read LCD display – numbers are huge! Magnetic back allows you to stick it to your fridge or any other metal surface (that attracts magnets). Nice touch! This seems to be like a quality built probe – assuming it’s accurate I’m extremely satisfied. It does come factory calibrated, but get this – you can re-calibrate it if needed by opening the battery door and pressing a calibration button while going through a semi-non-complicated process using a distilled water with ice mixture (it comes with instructions). That’s pretty impressive for a $30 USD quick-read thermometer. Highly recommended!

The auto off and ease of use is great . You can set it on the hopper on the pellet grill without closing the probe with raw meat juice on it and not worry the battery is draining needlessly till I need to recheck temp . My old instaread I would go inside to rinse it off to close the probe and save the battery . Magnet hold it to the pellet hopper till needed to recheck temps. And no more looking for it at grill time since it has a new home stuck to the fridge till time to cook

We cook frequently — especially in 2020. Thermometers are important to us when grilling or roasting. This one is better than others we have purchased in the following ways: (1) has a very nice large red read-out that inverts if you turn it over, (2) It reads quickly and has a button with a lock on it to hold the temp for review, (3) it has an auto shut-off to save the battery, and (4) it is convenient to hold and handle. It is also well designed — feels stylish.I hope it lasts cause so far it is great.

I thought this was somewhat on the pricey side compared to other thermometers when I bought it. It was a replacement for a different thermometer that had broken a few times, but my husband was able to repair it. I am so impressed by the quality of the ThermPro. It is really heavy duty. The display is very easy to read. Cooking temperatures for meats are printed on the back of the thermometer so I never have to go look up what temperature to cook the meat to. I love the fact that it is magnetic. I keep it on the side of the refrigerator so it is very easy to access when I’m cooking. It can also stick to my grill table so I don’t have to worry about it getting knocked off. The accuracy seems to be spot on. I use it with my air fryer also, to make sure frozen items hat I’m reheating are all the way done inside. This honestly, is one of my best Amazon purchases.

I bought one of these mostly for the size of the display. My old eyes need the large easily read digits. I wasn’t disappointed in that.I also love the auto off feature. I bought a digital thermometer a while back, used it, go the item to temp and moved into the vital things that needed to be done for the dish at that point, completely forgetting to power down the thermometer. It was less than half the price of this ThermoPro, but as a single use device, much more expensive. The auto off has saved me many times already. The thermometer is a good design, comfortable to hold and use easily. At this point, I’m thinking of buying these to give family enmasse for Christmas. Highly recommended!

After doing a considerable amount of research I finally landed on the ThermPro meat thermometer. I was not necessarily going after the cost of the thermometer but was certainly a consideration. Quality vs Cost. In the end again after researching a multitude of thermometers it quickly became very clear that I did not need to spend a great deal of money to get a great quality product. WHat I have found and confirmed so far is that ergonomically how you hold the thermometer in relationship to the meat you’re cooking which in my case is predominantly BBQing; Steaks, Chicken, Pork is extremely important. All of the online reviews called this out time and time again. This ThermPro product allows you to hold and use the Thermometer at a safe distance from your food and still give you an unobstructed view of the temperature. I also really appreciated the length of the probe whish allowed me to get a very accurate reading of a “Pork Butt” that I cooked on my Kamado. All in all I am very happy with this product, its quality and especially the cost. Great combo……but do you’re own homework, what works for me may not work for you.

I bought this in October of 2019 and have been using it non-stop for smoking meat and grilling. I love how fast it is and accurate. It’s waterproof and magnetic, so I like that i can just stick it to the smoker or grill while outside and always have it handy.Unfortunately it stopped working last week after less than a year of owning it. I changed the battery and was getting distorted readings on the thermometer and then it just shut off completely. I contacted customer service via e-mail and they immediately responded and are sending me a replacement. A+!Also, i have other ThermoPro products that I also use and love. Great company!

this thermometer is very accurate, very quick (3-4 seconds) and very easy to use. theres no need to spend $100 on a thermapen when you can have this for $30. its very accurate and quick, I tested both. if it isnt accurate its able to be calibrated. I tried to calibrate it but it didnt need calibration so its hard to tell if it did anything but i just reset it back to factory calibration as described in the manual. the display is easy to read and the auto rotate function is great. the auto sleep function is 90 seconds and wakes back up as soon as you lift it up. has non stick pads and a magnet on the back. the lock function is really handy. it does everything i would expect an instant read thermometer to do as well as i would expect it to do. the effort to unfold the probe seems good, stiff enough that you can probe your food at whatever angle. buy it.

Hubby used this to grill chicken thighs & again on a pork tenderloin. Both came out perfectly done! Tender and juicy. Only complaint was the one tenth reading…not necessary to cook meat, just too much information & confusing when reading temp. Otherwise seems well thought out & user-friendly. The company also seems to care about its customers. Hope it gives us years of use!

    Spot on accurate.
    A delight to use.
Have been using it now for over a month – four times with perfect results when cooking on my grill. I’ve tried other thermometers. THIS ONE WORKS and it gives an immediate read out. Great purchase. Highly recommended.

Used the probe today for a rib and chicken cook. Easy to use and accurate temperature display. Clean up was a snap. My older Thermopolis is now in my traveling BBQ knife bag.

I have used this thermometer to cook meat on the grill to perfection. It instantly shows temperature inside the meat so there is no guesswork as to the doneness of the meat. There is also a bonus magnet on the back side so you can leave it on the grill frame to check temps multiple times. Easy on after pulling the probe out like a jack knife blade and it instantly turns on. If you need to calibrate it ,it looks easy enough with a switch inside the battery compartment and ice water. I am very happy with this purchase and look forward to getting much use from it.

I really do like this thing! My old BBQ thermometer was a Weber brand from Walmart. While it was fairly accurate, it took upwards of 10-15 seconds to settle on the temp. The display was small and hard to read. The TP19 is TOTALLY opposite. The readings are very accurate and FAST, about 1-2 seconds to settle on a temp. I love that I can actually read it too! Probably the best thing about it though is the fact that I can wash it off! There might be others out there that are better, but for the money, you can’t beat this one!

I had two previous thermometers from this company, both used in my grill/smoker and have long leads with a portable / radio device. Decided we needed a “quick” stick to check things on the grill/stove top when time is short and we don’t want to pull out the nicer ones. This thermo-pro is fantastic. The LED rotates depending on how you angle it (so you don’t have to read upside down), it is highly accurate, and the probe is long enough to reach into the oven and not get burned or check steaks that are on the grill/pan for temp. This company also provides very good customer service, I’ve had 2 of the long lead probes replaced for free. Highly recommended.

I am a certified chef, CCC, for 42 years and we culinarians use thermometers 100 times a day, or so it seems. Great food is a matter of the right amount of time and a precise temperature. Nothing good happens to properly prepare food if it has to sit once it’s done. Determining when is done is the job of a thermometer. They need to be fast, accurate, waterproof, work in fryers and refrigerators and freezers and be easy to read. This one checks all the boxes for me at a very reasonable price and I recommend it to you.

I’ve written reviews in the past on other items I’ve purchased from Amazon, some were good products and others were not. When I’m asked for a review of a product I purchased, I feel I should let the public know. I don’t sugar coat my reviews, I tell it like it is. The ThermoPro TP19 Waterproof Digital Meat Thermometer I love the fact that it has a built in magnet. I placed it on my fridge and now I have easy access to it. I use a different brand before which has a long silicone wire allowing you to leave it in the meat while its cooking, but I found it very cumbersome and broke after 10 uses. The ThermoPro TP19 Waterproof Digital Meat Thermometer allows me to quickly check the temperature of what I’m cooking. Every once in a while I make candy and I can’t wait to use this. I think it will be a lot easier than my current candy thermometer. In my opinion, if you are looking for a good food thermometer, give this one a try it’s worth it.

I have had a number of meat thermometers that took forever to reach the actual temperature. I had basically given up and resigned myself to the fact that I was going to have to spend $99.00 for a Thermapen Mk4 which is supposed to be the best thermometer on the market with the fastest temperature reading (advertised as 2-3 seconds). I saw this one on Amazon and it was advertised as having readings of 2-3 seconds and it was only $29.99 with free returns. So I figured that I would try one more before buying the Thermapen Mk4 and if it did not perform as advertised, I would return it. I have to say that the ThermoPro TP19 is amazing. It reaches the meat temperature in 2-3 seconds as advertised. I am glad I bought it and saved almost $70 over the more expensive thermometer. I liked it so well that I bought another one for my son for Father’s Day. Buy one – you won’t regret it!

  69. CarlosM

This ThermaPro TP19 waterproof thermometer is a great product. It turns on when you swing the probe out and turns off when you close = Ease of use. Because it’s waterproof it’s also easier to clean. I bought this as a replacement of another brand which I ended up killing by cleaning in sink and getting wet. The display is smart: if you turn the thermometer upside down, the display reorientates itself so you can read it.

  70. kwat734

This is great for grilling. It is large… so its easier to handle while grilling than a standard kitchen thermometer. The reading is large, bright and easy to see. I did find it a little awkward to use in my kitchen, but didn’t get it a second chance. If so, I may have gotten used to it. But given my husband’s love for this, I would buy it again as he has snubbed every other grilling thermometer I have bought him.

  71. NoxNoctura

Just got my ThernoPro digital meat thermometer today. Always before, I had been a “check how it feels” kinda person while grilling. Have been doing more and more grilling though, and decided it would be a sound investment to get an actual meat thermometer. I did a lot of research and decided on the ThermoPro.I checked it out of the box in a pot of boiling water. Came in just a shade high of 212°F, within one degree. I was satisfied with that since the steam may have been playing a part in the higher reading as well.I also washed it under the sink and it definitely is waterproof. So far so good. Looking forward fo actually knowing what I am cooking!

  72. james

I never write reviews but this one deserves it. So after my wife ruined three non waterproof thermometers washing them in the dishwasher I bought this one. HUGE read out. Accurate (tested against two other instant) and I threw it in the dishwasher after first use and it still worked. Not that I’m gonna dishwasher it again but it will hold up to the wife’s over cleaning. 10 stars!!!!!

  73. A RHEA

I bought this to replace another (2 yr old) model whose probe just fell off. It was advertised as “instant read” but took at least 5 seconds to show temps (probably more like 10 but as fast as my previous one which had no light). This ThermoPro TP19 reads within 2 seconds or less. The lighted read-out is bright and large. In fact, the whole thermometer is larger than I thought it would be as I really didn’t pay attention to dimensions. It seems sturdy. I don’t care for the battery cover as it was difficult to replace while not leaving a smooth back. I don’t use the magnet, but it does seem to work all right. At first, I thought it needed calibration as my boiling water was registering above 212 F, but when I set up the ice bath, it registered perfectly. I use an instant read for water temps and low carb bread baking. On occasion, it will help as a grill thermometer. Overall, I really like this and would recommend it to anyone looking for a true instant read thermometer in this price range. I like the 3 yr warranty, also but hope I never need it.

  74. Goldie

From the pics you can see this is quite accurate to within 0.5F right out of the box before any calibration. It’s also got a nice long prong to feel a bit safer or more comfortable when reaching into an oven or holding your hand over hot pots on the oven. I’ve had various much thinner (and shorter) chef/stick type thermometers over the years, and this is my first of these folding ones. I like that it folds because it means theres no exposed prong in the drawer getting dirty or bumped, and that doesnt actually matter anymore because with the magnet, I have it on my fridge so I dont have to dig around for it or damage it. Also love not having to deal with pricey button batteries that I don’t use for anything else since this uses standard AAA(!).I haven’t had it enough time to talk about durability or longevity, or the waterproof claim, but will definitely update on those as needed if there are issues. If you don’t see an update, it’s because its doing fine :)Hope this helps make a buying decision with peace of mind,Goldie

The first time I used this, I used it in the oven to check some chicken. It appeared to read 190 degrees. Which would be overcooked. So I pulled the chicken. Found it raw at the bone. That is when I figured out the unit is extremely sensitive to ambient heat. So the meat must be checked outside of the heat source. After that I found it to be extremely accurate ,and easy to use. Love that the unit turns on when you open the probe.

Woo Hoooo! Finally an instant-read thermometer I can use outside after the sun goes down, or even if it’s just cloudy. This display is bright enough to use in direct sunlight and perfect for the evening cooks that are usually called “dinner”. The auto-rotate feature is awesome. The “hold” feature is awesome. The “auto-off” and “auto-wake” features are awesome. The water resistance is awesome. The extended length is perfect for allowing me to keep my hand away from hot coals while taking a reading. The magnetic back is a great feature if you have something that’s not stainless steel to stick it to. For the price, this thing is a must-have! I love it.

I’ve only used this a couple of times, but it has worked great so far. I’ve had two previous digital thermometers – the $90 unit that most chefs used, and a cheaper Chinese version that was $30. This unit works as well as the two previous units, but having it water-resistant and with the back-lit display makes this one even better. Time will tell how durable it is.

I like the temperature probe in use. My only complaint is you must close the temperature probe like a pocket knife to turn it off. To use it you open the probe much like a pocket knife, read the temperate, then close it up. I wish it had an on/off button so I could leave it open in between temperature readings.

The last instant read thermometer I bought was that little 2-piece set you’ve probably seen on Amazon- the one with a black one and a red one and a name you can’t pronounce.I bought this one to replace those, and when you compare this unit to those it’s almost like they were made in 2 different decades. This thing is super easy to see in any kind of light, from full sun burgers to midnight brisket. The display flips itself to display upright based on the way you’re holding it. It’s waterproof so I don’t have to worry if I leave it outside after s cook and it starts to rain (something that screwed up both the last instant read and the last wireless rigs I bought). Finally, this is the first “instant read” thermometer I’ve ever owned that comes anywhere close to giving you a reading “instantly”. I’ve had them take almost 10 seconds to give me a reading. This one takes around 3 at the most. Just a superior product all around.

I ordered this product and received it in 2 days. I used it to make my very first standing rib roast, for Christmas Day. Needless to say, it turned out perfect. I had inserted a regular meat thermometer into the center of the meat (not touching the bone, of course), and knew immediately this product was accurate when compared to the inserted meat thermometer. Thank you for a great product.

This is the best thermometer! Very accurate with a steady reading within seconds. I admit, I put it in my mouth (I was impatient to try it) and it read 98.8. When opened, it even attempts to read the room temperature. Close the probe and it cuts off. I have used it for my cooking every night since receiving and it has really helped with not over cooking chicken breasts and pork tenderloin. I love that the readout rotates so you can use either hand. The magnet holds it securely to my metal spice rack. Shipping was fast. Price fantastic for the quality. Nice weight to it. I’m very pleased with my purchase. I love everything about it. ThermoPro TP19, you are my new best friend!

I’ve been looking for a GOOD thermometer ever since I gave mine to my grandson that wanted to set up a kitchen for himself when graduated from the University and moved 1200 miles from home. My daughter recommended this one. It is perfect for me. EASY to read and clean, and really handy for my hands to use. I am pleased to the accuracy I have seen so far.

I have used three different Thermocouple meat thermometers in the last year. The first one was a $80 Williams and Sonoma brand that fell into the sink. It was a great well-built Thermometer but expensive. Was very disappointed when water got into the readout and made it illegible. We went on Amazon and decided to try a cheaper model, the ThermoPro TP18 . And cheap it certainly was, in every aspect. Poorly built and felt cheap. It didn’t last more than about three months of barbecue duty before it quit working. Now we have purchased the ThermoPro TP19. The build quality is night and day better compared to the cheaper PT18. For the six or seven dollars difference it’s certainly worth the money. Time will tell how long it actually lasts, it seems to be very sturdy and of professionally quality. If it lays an egg down the road I will amend my review. The readout is bright and easy to see,, it does read fast as advertised. If I would’ve noticed this was a thermal pro I may not have bought it based on my past experience with a cheaper model. However I’m glad that I did.

It works great and I would give it 5 stars but it is not IP65. After the first time it was washed and running water passed over it a spot appeared on the screen. The battery cover is firmly in place and screwed down. I dried it with a hair dryer and reassembled it to try again, same results. I gave it 2 stars because it says it is waterproof and that was one of the selling points for me. Other than that it works great, fast, accurate and easy to read.

I’ve been muddling along for years with a two-part meat thermometer (corded probe + unit with all the buttons to set temperature, time, etc.) and I finally ran out of patience. I’m a fan of the American’s Test Kitchen show and they use this device, so I decided I had to have one, too. I used it for the first time today on a pork tenderloin roast and it worked like a charm. Why did I wait so long to get it??? I still have to use a timer, but that’s a small inconvenience. I’ll amend this review if my opinion of my ThermoPro changes–but don’t hold your breath!

Oh, over the years I’ve had this and that BBQ thermometers…..even one that cost over $100. All without a back-light! Until now!. This unit is very simple to operate, just insert a AA battery, swing open the probe, and the unit comes to life! Very accurate: I tested this probe along side at-home lab thermometer probes….right there with the big-boys, save a ‘lil error. When tested against the $100 version, right on the money. Done. The only button, is used for holding the temp so that you can get a better visual….the display is large & bright enough, that frankly you will probably never have to use the hold feature. This is the “one,” folks!

I bought this thermometer because the Lava Tools brand that I previously purchased broke. (The housing that holds the probe cracked and the thermometer is no longer functional.) This brand was half the price of the Lava Tools thermometer. It works just as well. I like that it is self-orienting, making it easy to switch hands, while using it.On a side note, the customer service at Lava Tools was excellent. I just didn’t want to pay the high price for a thermometer.

Where has this thermometer been all my life?!I’ve done several temperature comparisons between this digital and my old school analog thermometer, and I get the same reading with both. The difference is the digital one is a heck of a lot faster! I usually get my final readings within 2 to 5 Seconds. One of the biggest pluses is the fact that it is waterproof.Pros:1) Very actuate.2) Quick temperature readings.3) Waterproof.4) The display flips depending on how you’re holding the thermometer (she don’t have to read the temperature outside down).5) Auto on/off feature to save the battery.6) Magnetic back that security holds it against any metal surface.7) Very simple to use.Cons:1) None, except for the fact that I haven’t had this in my life earlier! LOLHighly recommend for anyone looking for a quality digital waterproof thermometer.

This is my third ThernoPro item I have purchased. I bought the meat thermometer because I liked the other two products, including Customer Support – who follow up each purchase with emails. The large red digital temperature display is far easier to read than my older thermometer made by a different manufacturer. It is very helpful to have the rotating digits. On the back is a Recommended Internal Temp chart for beef and pork. My old thermometer did not have that feature, so I was always looking these up before cooking. One note on this – ThermoPro’s recommended temps are a bit higher than other sources recommend, (I think perhaps wanting people to be extra safe), so I adjust my cooking to about 5-10 degrees lower. My first extra thick steaks came out perfectly! Will çontinue to purchase ThermoPro products as my first choice!

  99. geforos

It seems to be a pretty decently built thermometer. It reads accurately but takes forever to get there. Nowhere near the TP19s described 2-3 second readings. The attached video is a chuck roast after an hour plus rest. It took over 15 seconds to get the reading, and that was one of the quicker ones I have gotten.

The ThermoPro TP19 is an amazing instant read thermometer. This company has not disappointed me yet. I also have their TP-08S wireless grill and meat probe thermometer. This particular instant read thermometer gives a faster reading, approximately 2-3 seconds, than any other “instant read” thermometer I own. I also have a Weber instant read, which takes approximately 10-11 seconds to give me an accurate reading. I tested the ThermoPro TP19 and Weber instant read going from the body temperature of my hand, 86 degrees, to a cup of ice cold water, and the TP19 had a reading of 32 degrees in 2 seconds flat, whereas my Weber instant read took 10 seconds to give me a reading of 32 degrees.Furthermore, the price of the TP19 cannot be beat! ThermoWorks offers that Thermapen Mk4 for $140. Anyone willing to spend that much money on a thermometer is a complete fool. It’s just a thermometer for checking the temperature of meat. No thermometer is worth that much money. ThermoWorks is a ridiculous company with clever marketing looking to empty the wallets of their consumers for a product no better than that of the ThermoPro TP19.ThermoPro has amazing products, and I will always look to them for an honestly priced piece of grilling equipment that I know will perform to my standards. If you are serious about grilling, and want a great product that won’t break the bank, look no further than ThermoPro. I am so happy I made this purchase.

The ThermoPro TP19 Digital Waterproof Instant Read Meat Thermometer is the best BBQ cooking thermometer I have ever used. The readout is easy to read even in bright sunlight. Clean-up is easy with the unit being waterproof. Temperature read is accurate and FAST. Just the thermometer I wanted.

Just arrived and used it so far for hamburgers and steak. Quick, accurate (tested it in ice water, as per the instructions when it arrived) and, most importantly, easy to read in all lighting conditions including complete darkness The large easy to read display was a major reason for my purchase; as I’ve found with a number of excellent thermometers, that you need a second light source to read it. Not with this one!

Long story short, I wanted a Thermoworks Thermapen MK4 but didn’t want to spend $100+, so i settled and ordered a Lavatools Javelin Pro which turned out to be JUNK. I was going to cave in and order a Thermpen and be done, but saw they released this as a knock off and ordered one…Then Thermpen went on sale and I ordered one of those. So here i am with three nice instant read thermometers. Maybe i can help someone make a decision. The TP-19 seems to be pretty well made, about on par with the Javelin Pro. It is not as high quality as the Thermapen, but it also costs a 1/4 as much. The TP-19 feels lighter and the plastic feels a bit cheaper than the Thermapen. For example, the battery cover screws into plastic, where as the thermapen battery cover screws into a metal nut. The battery cover on the Javelin Pro just uses something like a quarter to turn it and does not inspire much confidence (once again, terrible waterproofing). AAA batteries (Yes!) in the Thermapen and TP-19 and 2032 coin battery in the javelin (gross). It opens up and closes easily, and turns on and off as you do so. As for the speed differences between the three units, I can not really tell any difference. All three are very quick and all three seem to be about the same on accuracy (I’m an amateur so they are plenty accurate for me). The displays are all pretty easy to read. The T-19 has a bright red LCD display, kind of like an old alrm clock. The other two use backlit LCD screens, with the Thermapen being automatic and the Javelin having to be turned on. The Javelin and TP-19 rotate 2 directions (up or down), while the Thermapen can rotate 4 directions. The accelerometer in the TP-19 is a bit more jumpy. As you move it around the screen cant always decide which direction it wants to face, which is not a big problem, but something i noticed when testing it. The Javelin and TP-19 have magnets built in which allow you to stick them to a fridge or other metalic areas, but the thermapen does not. Thermapen and TP-19 claim to be fully IP-67 waterproof, where as the Javelin is just water resistant (debatable). If you want a fast handheld thermometer, i think the Thermo Pro TP-19 is a great option. If you you want to spend a bit more on the Thermapen for a better quality unit that has a great company behind it, its a great option too. Thermoworks is THE name in thermometers and are used in many professional kitchens around the world for a reason. My only real advice is to skip the Lavatools Javelin Pro. At $50+ it offers up nothing to the table. Their customer service is useless and the unit has no waterproofing, which to me is important for a kitchen thermometer.

I love all ThermoPro products – I have several, including other kitchen thermometers as well as indoor/outdoor thermometers and humidity monitors. Plus, their customer service is outstanding. This latest instant-read thermometer seems to be quite comparable to a similar product from another company. That other product has been at the top of many cooking sites lists for years; it is certainly an excellent instant-read thermometer, but costs three or four times as much as the ThermoPro TP-19. So this is a great bargain, and I expect it to be a good, reliable product

I was clued into this on reddit a couple days ago and figured for the price this was too much of a deal to pass up for a backup/loaner thermometer so I ordered it, worse case I’d just return it… I have been a happy ThermaPen user for almost a decade and I recently purchased a Mk4 because the wife accosted my original. The ThermoPro came in this afternoon and I took a moment to look it over and install the battery and give it a quick test against my current gear, I boiled a pot of water, threw some ice and water in a cup and did a few quick tests. All of them read pretty fast, I’d say that the bigger the delta the longer each took, which was impressive to say the least. I noticed that the ThermoPro was about a degree high on average but I’m under the impression this can be calibrated out… (Something I’m way to lazy to do over 1 degree)As far as build quality goes, The ThermoPro is decent, I see a lot of queues from the ThermaPen paired back. Its clearly built to a price point but it doesn’t feel poorly made… The only big gripe I saw out of the gate was that they chose to have the battery cover screw thread straight into the plastic case which will probably be the weakest link in the whole thing. The choice of a red segmented display on a black background makes for a nice balance between readability and not needing a backlit display… Without going all AvE on the thing I’ll just say that for the money, I’m not complaining I have definitely paid more for a lot worse…Overall, I’m pretty impressed, I might be a bit more hesitant if I was participating in bbq comps or cooking in a restaurant but for a home gamer I have already recommended this to two friends and I’ll be keeping this one around. I think for the money this is easily a home run and dont hesitate to give it 5 Stars

I bought a TP19, I used it two days ago and left it outside and battery side up, I live in Boise and it has snowed every night for the last two nights. It was outside covered in snow and below freezing temperatures. It thawed out enough for me to see it sitting where I left it, and I was “oh No” I retrieved my TP19 it was recording the temperature at that moment still working like a champ. The o-ring seal in the battery compart kept the battery dry, needless to say this product is a high quality product capable of standing up to the elements and keep on ticking. Thank you.
