I have used it to take the temperature of chicken, fish, beef, raosts, turkeys, you name it! It has never failed me yet! I haven’t tried it for candy or chocolate tempering but that is definitely on my list. Thank you so much for a great product! PS: My mom loves hers too!

I have ordered 3 of these and they are really good and accurate, plus very easy to use. They all seem to give virtually the same readings which is a good thing.Delivery was very quick so all went well.It can even measure your room temperature if you just flip it open in your room. The readings come quickly which is important. Great thermometer- maybe a little bulkier than expected but we love it.

  18. M.F.

I have 5 thermometers, none of them work, including the one with a probe. My husband bought this one, and I used it tonight on baked chicken breasts. The probe even worked in the thinest part of the breast. I particularly like how easy it is the use, I can read the numbers, the probe pops out and locks, and it is super fast.

  38. Pat G

Tis is the third thermometer I have purchased. No. 1 broke the cover off the battery compartment when I dropped it but it still worked. No. 2 was to replace no. 1. No 2, however stopped retracting the probe and then the wires for the thermometer would not retract and go into the device BUT IT STILL WORKED!No. 3 is the replacement. It looks the same but should work the best since its parts are intact.

  39. L. M. Hall

I have this attached to the fridge. The magnet works really well. The thermometer is super easy to use. I only wash the part of the probe that’s used and rinse by wiping off with a clean damp towel. I like that it has temperature info for the types of meat on the thermometer. I’ve had this for two years now and am very happy with it.

  40. Mohsen Dehghan

I really like how easy it is to use this and you can just stick to the fridge. I had one with wires and it was very difficult to use and messy. I have been using this for couple of months and I am very satisfied.

  53. Nope private

It works, or did, fine for a year but now is very slow-read. I could always trust it so I didn’t over-cook meat but hope to find a true instant read.

  55. Pat

    AAA rating

  56. Mickey

This thermometer is consistent and easy to use. I love that it has a magnet. I remove the batteries when not using it and store the thermometer on the side of my stove near the controls. It has helped me to not overcook my foods!

  64. Kevin Reagan

Very handy, hangs on the side of the fridge for easy reach, large numbers and nice big on/off button.

  65. W

I’ve purchased this item twice, and when the one I have finally dies in a few years from constant use, I will rebuy it again. Great little thermometer and love that it has a magnet to stick it on the side of the refrigerator. I never have to go looking in a drawer for it because it’s always in arm’s reach.

This is the second one that I’ve purchased. I accidentally broke the first one after years of use. The new one has exactly the same accuracy, reliability, ease of use, and clear display. If I accidentally brake this one, I would not hesitate to buy another.

Has changed my life! Cook mean meats and fish with this digital delight.

  72. OnDaRoad

    Easy to use, seems accurate

  73. Corfu

The last thing I need when cooking is to dig through a drawer looking for my thermometer as the oven door hangs open. This thermometer is RED and magnetic. I cant miss it. It also uses a real battery (AAA) (no button batteries in my household please!). One button unlocks the probe and the other turns it on and illuminates the reading screen. Wonderful and instant. Just as described. I was made aware of this thermometer from a cooking website and now glad to have it.

  74. G. Trammell

Very useful and accurate for determining whether meat on grill is done or not. Highly recommended!!

  75. the happy homemaker

My hubs won’t leave my Thermapen alone. He is always testing the temperature of everything. So when I got sick of him playing with my tool I purchased this one for him. He says it is not quite as accurate as the Thermapen, which costs many times more. But I am sure it is good enough for the BBQ grill and testing temperature of the room.

  76. Richie_$_Rich

The best probe for the price by far

  77. Nicole

The last one I bought was so complicated having to make several selections before testing the meat. I sent it back and bought this one. So easy with just an on and off button. It has a magnetic back, so after cleaning, I just put it on my fridge for easy access. I just bought a second one for my camper. Great buy!

It shows the temperature as soon as you put it in.

  122. DB

Works great and that I can use it so many ways

  123. J. Ross

I read that properly baked bread should hit an internal temperature of 190F and no more. After getting this I found out that for literally decades now I’ve been over-baking my loaves!I was worried that only going to 190F for my whole wheat sourdough loaves would make them more prone to molding but that has not been an issue at all–even in this hot summer. What I have found is that loaves baked to 190F stay moist and soft *far longer* than they used to.This is bread made from freshly ground Wheat Montana wheat or organic rye berries using the starter I’ve had for 45 years and counting. It’s always a good thing to learn something new about baking bread–this ranks right up there with learning the Tassajara sponge method, getting my first grinder to make my own flour and with learning to bake bread in a dutch oven!

  124. Audley C. Hurley

    Good value

  125. R.Miles

    Quick and easy to use

  126. Jeff

Seems to work well and is very easy to use. Love that it has recommended cooking temps on the back.

  128. Claire Langella

    East to use, & accurate

  129. ChiMaxx

Taking the guess work out of cooking meat changes the game. Probe is long enough to where you wont get burned by the grill. No more over cooked ribs, chops, breast…

  130. I like reviews

Great little product, I use it on most of the and fish that I cook. Works as described and I would recommend this product.

  131. LainieB

I use this thermometer for breads and cakes. No more dry or undercooked baked goods. My husband has one for perfectly bbqed meats. I use it indoors for perfectly cooked chicken, burgers, fish. It is perfect for making ricotta and fresh mozzarella. Good for fudge and candies. I honestly don’t know how we lived without this product. I’ve bought them for other fami.y members too.

  132. Lola Mccreary

For everything, so handy no long wires to deal with.

  133. Brianna R.

This is seriously the best meat thermometer I’ve ever used. It’s easy to use, easy to read easy to clean & is magnetic so it can stick to your fridge without getting lost in kitchen drawers. I would definitely recommend!

  134. Amazon Customer

  139. John Z

Works great. Bought this a while ago and it is dependable and accurate.

  140. growworm

I bought it for accuracy but have come to appreciate it’s other features including adjustable angle for the probe, quickly reaching temp, magnet, and sleep mode when it is left on beyond a certain amount of time.

  141. Kraig H.

Thermometer is accurate, easy to use and priced very reasonable.

  142. Mr. Ed

Bought to replace on that was dropped and was broken. T here work sell and are help[ful.

  143. Lawrence R. Horgan

I bought this to backup or replace my Kizen, which now only reads temperature when the probe is NOT fully extended – straight out. This on is a very nice thermometer and a faster “reader” than my Kizen, BUT!!!…. in order to close it where the probe folds and locks into the body, you have to contort it a little, AND….when you press the button that releases the probe (ala switchblade), the thermometer doesn’t turn on. There is a separate button you must press to turn it on. Maybe it’s nitpicking, but it just seems you press a button to release the probe and it should turn on (like the Kizen). Otherwise, a very good thermometer for the price.

  144. Rachel

Bought it for Thanksgiving turkey. Finally figured out this thing doesn’t work after cooking 45 minutes past what should have been done and thermometer read rare. Even after calibrating. The bird was fully cooked and bone dry. Thanks!UPDATE: Thermpro saw my review and sent a new thermometer at no cost. Thank you kindly!!! The new one works well. Used it when grilling thick boneless/skinless chicken breasts. Cooked until thermometer inserted at thickest part nearest to center read 165 or within a few degrees. None were raw in the middle (yay) or too dry. Thanks again!

  145. Michael Jaffe

Very easy to use Reads quickly

  146. Veronica Viscusi

Very easy to useAccurate readingsVery easy to read temperaturesLove the ranges printed right on the unit

  147. CJ D

This little thermometer is great we use it it all the time when cooking on the grill. Now won鈥檛 have to cut open chicken and meats to see if they are cooked.

  148. Idaho NanaAnnie

So easy to use. Even my husband uses it when BBQing. This was a win-win purchase.

  149. diane morris

Easy to read and use. Love magnets. Always handy on refrigerator

  150. Alissa S. McMahon

We use this every time we cook meat. It’s so easy and accurate. Great product.

  151. Gramto4

I like this one because you press a button to release the probe. I also like the magnets that keep it secured to my stove hood while not in use.

  152. MK

In the past I’ve bought cheaper thermometers and regeted it. I’ve had this one almost one year with no problems. Worth the money!

  153. timber

The product arrived on time and just exactly what we expected.

  154. R R

I use this every week at least once often 2 times. It’s fast and accurate and easy.

  155. Michael

Reasonably priced thermometerLove the magnet, so I keep it on the side of my microwave for easy access.Liked it so much, that I got another one for my mom.

  156. goddess_of_pipework

I love this thermometer and use it for lots of things, not just meat. It’s easy to use. The display is nice and big. It registers the temperature in seconds – I’m not waiting for it to slowly count up to the temperature. Will probably buy another as a gift for my son who loves to cook.

  157. Bruce

This was a good purchase. It works great, easy to use, bright, clear, easy-to-read display. The magnet keeps it handy on the side of my fridge.

  158. David Godlewski

This is an easy to use and easy to read, fast and accurate. What more can you ask for.

  159. backwoodsdog

Liked mine so much, I bought two more for backup. At $10 I expect it may not have a long life, but I’ve found it more accurate and faster than my old instant-read that cost much more.

  160. S_Musser

Absolutely loved this thermometer for the year I had it. Then all of a sudden, the probe decided to come loose. If I knew that it would continue to be accurate, I would super-glue it back in place. However, for $10 I’ll just buy another one. Overall satisfied with the operation, just a little lacking on the quality.

  161. Shanette

I love that there is a push button so the thermometer is all one piece then push the button and now you can insert the probe to get a reading

  162. Pamela

Love how easy this is to use. Folds up and hangs on my fridge next to the stove. Even my engineer son- in- lawdecided to get one for himself. Fast readout!

  163. Mary

I bought this for myself and was pleased right from the beginning. I like the “switch blade” function (and easy store) of the probe and the easy to read digital read out of the temperature. When cooking on the grill, the magnets keep it in place secured to the side table. The back side has recommended temps for meat, poultry etc. It is compact and a must have for the kitchen. I have since purchased this again as a gift for family members.

  164. VLyons

Bought in June 2020, broke in July 2022. Not sure if that is average.Pretty good at telling temp. Hard to wash and not get the red part wet. The magnet was great to keep on stove or fridge so it was nearby.

  165. Bob B

Monitoring the temperature of thick burgers and steaks on the grill? Of course, excellent results with this product! However, I also fry burgers in a pan in the kitchen and I usually over cook them. When making small skinny patties… this meat thermometer allows me to get great results every time. Great value and works like I hoped it would.

  166. Peter

This thermometer is very easy to use. For meat, chicken or even making caramel, it served well. Can recommend it, I would not have objected if it would have worked longer. However, it started displaying LLL for low battery, and replacing the battery would not make any difference. I assume some of the electronic components are not working properly anymore. Will buy a replacement.

This is great because it blends everything into one piece. Magnetized to hold onto the oven surface and is handy at any time, it’s got a retractible probe, so that no one gets stabbed if it falls into little ones hands, it lights for an easy read and it’s very accurate!

  168. Chris Collins

Easy to read has meat temp chart on back. Very convenient!

This little tool is great but unfortunately this one was a replacement for one bought a few years ago that suddenly stopped working. Hopefully this one lasts a little longer.

Just open it and it’s on. Push a button for backlight, another to change from F to C and another one to hold the temperature – great for getting the temperature of something in the oven or over a hot grill and getting your hand away quickly. Very accurate and extremely fast temperature reading. Close it and it is off. What more could you want? Out of curiosity, I just put the tip under my tongue for a couple of seconds and pressed the hold button. 98 degrees. That’s close enough for me, although I’m sure the manufacturer does not recommend using it as a medical device. Buy one and stop looking.

I purchased one of these for use in my kitchen in 2020. After using that thermometer daily, I liked it so well that I purchased another to keep in my minivan camper conversion. This gave me an opportunity to compare the accuracy of the two units. The readings were exactly the same for my 2020 purchase and my 2022 purchase. For my purposes, these thermometers meet my needs, at home or away. Next time I’m camping, I look forward to getting just the right water temperature for my drip coffee. Sheer luxury!

We use this thermometer to make yogurt in our Instant Pot. We heat a gallon of milk to at least 180掳 F, let it cool down to 110掳 F, then add a couple of tablespoons of organic plain yogurt, and turn on the yogurt setting. The thermometer lets me make sure it reaches at least 180掳 on the first stage and cools to 110掳 on the second stage.

While never touted as a professional tool, this probe is good enough for home usage. I have not used it a lot but it worked for the times I did. Accuracy was only 4 stars because I don’t think this tool will be exact but I have not tested it.

This may be the most important cooking device you can buy. I have found my BBQ, oven cooked meats and other food items are coming out much juicy and tender thanks to this device. Being able to pinpoint the cooking temperature has been a game changer. I have owned this for a few years and it鈥檚 worked well. I haven鈥檛 yet had to replace the battery and the magmatic backing is a nice touch. Highly recommend.

  175. Anthony Neumann

The product feels a little cheap but it definitely works well and I haven’t had any issues with it. I can’t speak to the accuracy since I don’t have another thermometer that I know is accurate to test it against, but it certainly appears to be accurate to me.Pros:Quick readingsLit display is niceAuto shut-offCons:Magnet isn’t super strong, slides down the side of my fridgeFeels a little cheap in the hand

  176. Jared

I like that it reads very quickly (about 1 second), folds up and magnetizes to my fridge, and has a clear digital display. After a few years of use, however, the button is not very responsive, making it a challenge to turn on and off now.

The problem with this purchase was not the product. It was having other people in my house. We liked the thermometer and used it frequently. I liked the ease of changing out AAA batteries, which I usually have on hand, and not needing a special battery that I would consistently forget to order. I appreciated the accuracy and how easy it was to use and read. Forget those stupid little dials that are too tiny to read without getting your face close enough to be burned. But others in my home could not stop themselves from submerging the thermometer in water. And letting it soak. So the display spazzed out. It worked after drying out the first few times but then it had enough and quit. Can鈥檛 say I blame it.

It is so easy to use! Magnetic so it sticks to the refrigerator and is always THERE when you need it. I wipe the wand with alcohol, fold it, and put it away for next time. It has AA or AAA batteries (can’t remember which) so that when the batteries die, it is easy to install new ones. My previous thermometer had some strange kind of battery that I never replaced. I just ordered this handy beauty. Had to search through many look alikes to find a normal battery. I buy AA and AAA batteries in bulk so that i always have replacement batteries on hand.

I decided to pay a few more bucks in order to get a better product. The reviews I have perused insist that this item is more accurate than others, and will last for longer. I am writing this after only a few days and a few uses, so my review is extremely limited. That being said, the design itself is made up of a relatively cheap plastic (I am referring to the body). The buttons are work completely fine, and the thermometer does exactly what it is made to do. The “spring” mechanism that is supposed to flip up the medal piece is extremely flimsy as well – it has already become “griddy” and doesn’t pop all the way up…But since this thermometer is made to measure temperatures, and that’s what it does perfectly well (so far so good!), I am giving this 4 stars, and only 1 star off of the actual design (if the product’s design was more essential to its use then I would consider removing more stars, but this is not the case).

Even though the accuracy says +- .9 degrees, it passed the ‘ice water’ and ‘boiling water’ accuracy checks with only a .2 degree deviation and even that might have been because of my altitude.I am using this to check chicken incubator temperatures and it is hard to find anything accurate in the sub 100 degree market. A note of caution, however, if you are only using the TIP to test a temperature, it takes a lot longer for the ‘instant read’ to actually read. For the quickest read, put most of the probe into the item you are checking.I don’t expect the thermometer to last long though simply bc I am clumbsy and if the probe gets bent backwards it will just snap it off. Also, the magents on it are genius…

I’ve bought a few cooking thermometers over the years, and can say that this is hands down the best one I’ve ever used. It’s quick, convenient and super-easy to read. Most importantly it’s accurate! This is actually my second purchase of this thermometer. I had to buy another as the last one I bought broke–which was 100% entirely my fault: I was cleaning it and pulled WAY too hard on the metal prong and ripped it right out. Then stood there for a minute staring at it like an idiot wondering why I did that and what on earth did I think would happen–I mean, it’s a $12 thermometer after all. Still, it took a pretty strong effort to rip the thing out, so it’s a (fairly) durable thermometer, too!Anyway, the cool feature are: push-button prong release. Great for quick use, or pretending you’re a space-age cowboy on really boring days. The temperature read out panel lights up (not bright enough to read by if the power goes out–trust me on this) and makes a very easy to read display for the temperature. The magnets are very cool–my kids like to play with stuff, and, as mentioned previously this is a very cool ray gun substitute, but they won’t mess with things on the fridge for some reason (too busy trying to get at all the food inside is my initial guess). The magnets are a truly great idea–anytime I can avoid putting something new in the junk drawer that’s a bonus, since I’m not even sure that drawer can open anymore. If you’re reading through all the reviews on this thing then: 1) more power to you, as there are a LOT of reviews 2) but get a different hobby–I mean, it’s $12 and 3) stop here, because you will be happy with this one. It works, it lights up, and it’s easy to store–what else are you looking for?

I’ve had two of these ThermoPro thermometers in seven years. Now I’m buying a third, not to replace the second one, which is still going after four years, but for use in my garden. My most recent thermometer has been used almost daily and has remained accurate. That said, my first ThermoPro thermometer lasted only just over a year, the reason I’ve deducted a star on this review. I liked it well enough, though, that I bought another without hesitation.I love the fact that this thermometer has a magnet so that it can be placed right on my microwave for easy access while I’m cooking.Final note: I’m a huge fan of ThermoPro products so far. My husband has the meat thermometer for grilling/smoking, and we have a magnetic thermometer to monitor the temperature in our garage. (As I’m buying a new thermometer to test soil in my garden today, I’m also buying a second magnetic thermometer to go in my basement, where I grow seedlings in late winter.) All of these products so far have served us well.

I am just terrified of eating under-cooked meat. I don’t think that once sentence really encapsulates my fear, so allow me to elaborate. It was 1992. I was home by myself. It was a weekend evening. I decided to treat myself to a home-cooked steak. I didn’t often eat steak, so this was a rare treat indeed. I had splurged and purchased the best brand of instant potato flakes. And I had a can of green-beans that I was saving for a special occasion. A real top tier meal, if I say so myself. So I cooked it all up. I liked my steak medium rare back then, so I did my best to guess how long to leave that steak in the pan before serving it up. Unfortunately, that’s where everything went wrong.I had put my piled-high plate on the table, as I was grabbing a bottle of wine from the pantry, a large glass canister of rice fell from the top of the pantry and cracked me right in the head. Of course in response, I grabbed onto a pantry shelf to regain my balance, and the shelf gave way, starting a domino effect of cans and tins and jelly jars falling from above. One can in particular(I believe it was a can of creamed corn, the fiend) rolled right under my feet and I lost my balance in full when I accidentally stepped on the can instead of the floor. And since the pantry was right at the top of the basement stairs, there I went tumbling down the stairs, head over heels, right on past the metal storm door to the driveway, right on past the landing and around the corner of the stairs, on into the cement basement.Luckily I had a phone line installed down there the year before and the it was just close enough that I could fight through the pain to drag myself over and topple it from the table. I told the operator I need medical attention direly, and they sent out the medics….Well, long story short, I broke both arms and a rib and had myself a doozy of a concussion. Between placing that phone call and the hospital, I don’t remember much, but I DO remember being strapped to a body board, carried up the stairs, and I have this hazed memory of one of the medics inspecting my home-cooked masterpiece… and while my vision and hearing were fading out I heard someone say “well, what do you expect to happen to you when you eat raw meat like that.”So of course, ever since that day I have been LOATH to experience that much bodily harm again…. so I burn all my meat to a crisp just in case. All the way through. I’d rather eat a bit of charcoal if it means no more broken bones. It all changed when I bought this device. Thanks to its quick temperature taking and digital screen, I know EXACTLY when my meat is cooked. I don’t have to burn it or crisp it or leave it in the oven until it’s dry. I can enjoy a medium well steak without fear. I just pop that timer in, check my handy chart of food-safe temperatures, and I’m good to go.So yes, you could say this device has changed my whole life. I no longer live in fear. I have far less charcoal in my diet. All in all, an EXCELLENT tool to keep me safe from raw meat and bodily harm.

For years I eyed the Thermapen . . . that great, venerable digital thermometer that I CRAVED for my French Macaron making (I know. French Macaron, Italian meringue, American kitchen. Not confusing at all. haha). The problem was that the Thermapen weighed in at a (*coughing*) neat little $100 price tag. Yikes. No thanks. I decided to keep my clunky glass candy thermometer, balancing boiling hot sugar syrup against a frantically beating mixer whipping my egg whites into clouds of aerated bliss. At the same time, you also have to monitor my syrup temperature while simultaneously pouring said sugar syrup in a steady stream alongside your bowl, with toddlers clinging to your legs begging for goldfish crackers, and you really need to be careful. You need a thermometer that helps you get that measurement in a second . . . a thermometer that makes things easier and safer. A thermometer that helps you TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!!! hehe. Well, maybe not that. Well maybe not yet. ;)So I saw this little guy, the thermapro . . . which looked like the almighty Thermapen, for a tidy 10 bucks. And come on. You can’t blame me for trying it. That’s about what my little cheapie glass candy thermometer cost. Thermapro came in, and I couldn’t wait to test it out.To begin with, Thermapro has a neat little feature where the probe pops out or stays protected within the thermometer, at the touch of a button. That makes it much less scary for me to have around the house, so the kids don’t accidentally get hurt on the sharp points. I can put the point away, lock it, and then if they accidentally get ahold of it, no stabbing injures (maybe a thermometer ends up in the toilet, but no stabbing injuries. Progress. Did I mention it’s a great thing these are only 10 bucks? haha). One thing I was unsure about from the description was how long it takes to get a read, as well as if you have to “push button, get read. Push button, get read.” When I am doing sugar work, the sugar is very hot and dangerous, and it takes all my attention to keep it going and the kiddos safe. I don’t have time to continually be “checking in” with a thermometer to see the temperature. I wanted something that was a digital version of my candy thermometer– it could give me a constant read as the temperature rose, without my having to do anything but monitor.I was so pleased! Here is a photo of my thermapro taking a constant read of my sugar syrup. I was able to pull it off the heat at precisely 244 degrees, pour it into my madly whipping egg whites (Fully! Madly! Deeply!), and produce *kisses fingertips* absolutely divine, marshmallowy, perfect Italian meringue, which I used to make my French macarons, again, in my American kitchen. They turned out divine, and I’m just sitting here smiling, thinking that this little guy only cost me 10 bucks instead of 100, and it works like a dream come true.I intend to use this to tell when bread loaves are done (200 degrees), so no more “raw in the middle” for me. Sugar work is precise and delicate, and this little baby will be my new best companion. I intend to get these for all my cooking buddies for Christmas gifts this year. The quality and price can’t be beat, and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase! I see LOTS of macarons in my future! Bon App茅tit! 🙂
